CocoMoJoe JoeBars: Organic, Raw, Paleo Real Food Coconut Bars

I used to be a huge fan of Larabars. When I first discovered them 2 years ago I would buy 4 of the 16 packs at one time so my siblings and I could enjoy 4 different flavors at one time. We would all then split the different flavors.

Larabars are very convenient and not too expensive. They are made of raw nuts, fruit and spices or things like lemon peel. You have probably tasted or at least heard of them yourself.

What if I told you that there is a bar that is 100% paleo? That is made up of mostly coconut? One that is 100% organic?

Well, now there is. The bar is CocoMoJoe JoeBars and they are divine. I was asked to try a sampler pack and then write a review about them so here I am. I will no doubt recommend these bars to anyone who is asking for a convenient food that they can enjoy while traveling, as a snack or if they are running late. These would also be excellent to enjoy before attending a party that may serve a bunch of junk.

They have no preservatives so they won’t last forever but they don’t need to be refrigerated since it contains fruit and nuts just like larabars.

What is the difference between CocoMoJoe and Larabar?

CocoMoJoe is organic while larabar is not. CocoMoJoe is made up of mostly coconut which is full of heart healthy saturated fat. This includes coconut oil which can be very healing. Larabars are mostly dates and nuts which can be harder to digest compared to coconut for most humans.

Larabar is cheaper per bar. However, CocoMoJoe JoeBars have about 340 calories per bar where Larabars usually have between 200 and 220. If you compare by calories, there is not much difference in cost if any at all. It just depends on where you buy the bars.

Both are made of raw, whole, real ingredients.

What is the best flavor?

Coffee was easily my favorite but all are divine.

There are 6 different flavors and I was able to try each one. I’m hoping that Joe will craft a few more. Perhaps I can give him a suggestion. If you have a suggestion then please leave a comment below or send me an email.

My favorite was coffee. This definitely due to the fact that I love coffee. I am not a big drinker but when I enjoy it, it’s definitely black. Coffee anything is awesome to me.

I also enjoyed all the other flavors. Green was probably my least favorite but I also realized that it was the most nutritious. It did not taste bad by any means and I would enjoy it over and over again.

The other 4 flavors (chocolate, cranberry, fig and mango) tasted exactly like it says.

All bars have the same basic ingredients consisting of coconut, walnuts, coconut nectar, chia seeds, maca root powder, coconut oil and vanilla extract. Each bar then has other ingredients added depending on its flavor.

Do you still enjoy popcorn on occasion? Try Cocomo Corn

Corn is a grain, not a veggie. Over 90% of corn is a GMO which is potentially harmful. Corn is very yummy, especially popcorn. Yet, it’s definitely not Paleo. I have not enjoyed popcorn all year. Since discovering CocoMoJoe, this may change.

Take a look at the ingredients of Cocomo Corn.

There is no doubt that I will be trying this asap!

I don’t know about you, but that sounds extremely intriguing and yummy to me. Because it’s organic, the corn is NOT a GMO. That’s a win. The sugar is from the coconut. Win. It contains coconut oil. Win. The last 3 ingredients are sea salt, vanilla extract and baking soda. Win.

That’s a lot of wins.

As you can probably tell, I have not yet tried the Cocomo Corn. I regret not asking if I could try a sample. They probably assumed that I did not want to try it since it’s not technically “paleo.”

I don’t care. I want to try this damn Cocomo Corn. Don’t you?!

The 5% Discount Code

Joe recently started this business and is trying to just keep it afloat. If you use the discount code “PRIMAL” at checkout then you will receive 5% off your total order. I’ll earn 5% in commissions.

If you buy a 12 pack of the CocoMoJoe Joebars with this discount code then you will save $1.80 and I’ll earn $1.80. That may not seem like much but it does add up. For me, that’s more than enough for a dozen medium sized pastured eggs! So, for every 12 pack you buy I get to buy a dozen pastured eggs. You may want to try that Cocomo Corn too! If you do, please leave a comment below with your thoughts or send me an email. I’d love to learn what you think.

Did Joe make CocoMoJoe Joebars with you in mind? That depends on who you are of course. In my mind, if you stay at home all the time and thus cook all of your meals then these bars may not do you any good. However, if you plan on traveling soon, take small trips frequently or need a healthy convenience bar for whatever reason then these bars are probably perfect.

I’ll be “camping” with my siblings Thursday through Saturday and I wish I wouldn’t of eaten all 12 from the sampler pack I received a couple of weeks ago.

Have you tried a CocoMoJoe bar yet? Don’t forget about the 5% discount code “PRIMAL.”

These sound really good! I’d love to try some. I’ll take a look around his shop. I’ve been having some microwave popcorn every now and then and sharing with my toddler too. I know it’s not the best though :/

    • http://primaltoad.com/ Todd Dosenberry

Microwave popcorn is not ideal but I think it’s mostly harmunless or most. You never know though since its a gmo. Cocomo corn sounds amazing though!

  • Hardeep Sura

are these available in the uk??????????? or something similar for us UK followers? thanks for the awesome review, much appreciated.

    • http://primaltoad.com/ Todd Dosenberry

Not that I am aware of… Have you tried ordering these
and checking out having them shipped to your country?

      • Hardeep Sura

ahhh, I shall try. Keep up the good work!

The CocomoCorn is off-the-hook delicious. Especially if you’ve been Paleo for awhile then your taste buds are much more sensitive than the average Joe. Even tastier to those (like me) who enjoy coconut flavor.

Glad to here that you are Paleo and love the CocomoCorn… It’s on it’s way here! I LOVE coconut and so does my father who is not Primal (yet).

  • PMAtrainingAcademy

I found this bar that’s made from the cliff bar company. It’s an organic brand and its worth the bar and a little smaller then the Lara bar. My favorite is Cashew.

    • http://primaltoad.com/ Todd Dosenberry

Cliff bar seems to be fake food.

    • ChibiSeira

Have you found them in any stores? I’ve tried Wegman’s with no luck. Been looking for those.

      • http://primaltoad.com/ Todd Dosenberry

I don’t think they are in stores yet. I talked to Joe himself on the phone. Some crossfit gyms are selling them. I will probably buy them wholesale while I am walking across the US. I’ll sell them of course but also give them away too for folks to try before they buy a box. I can’t wait :)

  • http://primaltoad.com/ Todd Dosenberry

Oh yes! I spoke too soon! Awesome. I’ll have to check these out soon. I’ve never tried a billberry before so these really intrigue me. Thanks!

  • ChibiSeira

Just FYI, while much of corn is GMO, popcorn never is. That’s not to say organic is worthless, but GMO’s shouldn’t be the reason. http://responsibletechnology.org/docs/Non-GMO-Shopping-Guide.pdf (bottom of page 10)

  • Terry

I am jealous you can buy pastured eggs for $1.80. Can’t get them for under $5 here. :(

    • http://primaltoad.com/ Todd Dosenberry

I buy medium ones for $2.00 now. It’s a fantastic deal. I think most can in the US so you seem to be a little unlucky. It’s life. I am unable to source raw whole milk easily while some others can.

I do remember reading about this somewhere else so thanks for the reminder! However, can you really be certain in today’s world with the food industry as corupt as it is? Do you know what pesticides are sprayed on corn crops?

    • ChibiSeira

Yeah, that’s why I said organic isn’t worthless by far. I just conventional for OTHER reasons.

Received my order yesterday, and had one for breakfast. I like them and will be ordering more. The are drier than other paleo crunch-type snacks which is easier to eat while I drive.

Yes, where do you get pastured eggs at that price??

    • Louise

(I’m in Edmonton and have only found 1 source of alfalfa fed organic free range eggs, at $4.50/dozen)

    • http://primaltoad.com/ Todd Dosenberry

I get my pastured eggs at the farmers market. :)
